Reminder about site registration

This mainly goes out to the spammers, even though I know they won't read it, but it's also good information for people who are going to register for access to the site.

Site Registration Rules Revised October 12, 2007

1. A valid email account must be used when registering. Failure to do so will result in your request being deleted. I do check the domains being used to register and if they appear to be spammers (for example, the main page on the server is nothing but a list of links to various products or something similar) or if the server doesn't exist (I've gotten a number of those as well) then the registration request will be ignored.

2. Your username must make some sort of sense to me. If you try to register using a random string of characters, or a username so cryptic that I go "huh?", then it will be deleted. So those of you using bots and registering with usernames like "MNLEKndafNefNKseflnaf", for obvious reasons I'm assuming this is a spam registration and it's being deleted. If your name really is MNLEKndafNefNKseflnaf then you have my sympathy and if you still want an account you'll have to send me an email directly.

3. No users whose email addresses have a .ru (Russia) or .cn (China) suffixes will be accepted. They are deleted without prejudice because every one that has tried to register has been a confirmed spam account. If you really do have a .ru or .cn hosted mail account then you will have to contact me directly in order to register.

4. Anyone who registers and then posts spam will have all of their postings deleted and their account removed. There will be no trial and no appeal. I expect people to know what constitutes spam and if it gets posted then I will take steps.

5. This is a family friendly site, or at least a PG-13, sometimes R, rated site. No explicit sex or yiff. Anything like that which is posted will be removed. I'm the sole decider as to what constitutes too much so if I feel something crosses the line that's the decision that stands. Repeated abuse of this, such as reposting the same story/article after it's been removed, will result in account termination.

That's it. These are pretty straightforward rules and I think everybody can live with them. If you have an issue feel free to bring it up to me. I'll listen to what you have to say, but in the end the site is in my name and is my responsibility, so the final decision rests with me.
